About Viale Canova Catering

From Veneto to Brisbane

Chef Lorenzo grew up in the foothills of Monte Grappa, where Sunday lunch is sacred and fresh pasta is a daily ritual. After formal culinary training and stints in acclaimed restaurants across northern Italy, he and his partner—now husband—Massimo set their sights on Australia, lured by Brisbane’s sunshine and opportunity.

The Dream of a Restaurant

In 2004 the couple unlocked the doors to a cosy Clayfield dining room and Viale Canova Ristorante was born. Their goal was simple: share the flavours and warmth of their Veneto homeland with their new community. House-made pasta, crab lasagne and slow-braised ragù soon became local legends, earning industry awards and the Italian Ministry’s Ospitalità Italiana seal for authenticity.

A New Chapter: Viale Canova Catering

When redevelopment forced the restaurant to close, Lorenzo and Massimo chose evolution over farewell. Viale Canova Catering now brings the same recipes and hospitality to homes, boardrooms and special venues across Brisbane. From an intimate family dinner to a 60-guest celebration at our partner venue, The Coffee Commune, we provide everything—menu design, linens, tableware, service staff and spotless clean-down—so you can simply enjoy the festa.

Chef Lorenzo Today

Lorenzo still rolls every raviolo by hand, sources D.O.P. Italian imports and adds a Queensland twist with local produce. His guiding rule: “La mia magia si chiama passione—my magic is called passion.”

Our Promise

We treat every booking as if you were seated at Table 13 back in Clayfield: food prepared with care, service delivered with genuine warmth and memories made over shared plates. Grazie for letting us bring the Viale Canova spirit to your table—wherever that table may be.
